Milk production costs still not covered in Germany
(Brussels, 16.04.2019) The current calculation of milk production costs in Germany shows that in January 2019 only 82% of production costs were covered. Although from October 2018 to January 2019 costs had slightly decreased, cost coverage stagnated at 82% due to also lower milk prices.
According to the quarterly figures published by the Farm Economics and Rural Studies Office (BAL), production costs amounted to 42.78 ct/kg in January 2019, whereas farm-gate milk prices were only 35.15 ct/kg.
