An end to crises, crashes and catastrophes: The EMB proposal on the EU agricultural policy reform and on solutions to dairy market crises

Invitation to the EMB press conference on 17th January 2019 on International Green Week in Berlin

Dear member of the press,

Our members – milk producers from 15 European countries – have constantly underlined that milk earnings at the end of the month are not enough to cover costs and therefore the economic situation must still be considered "in crisis". In spite of the slight increase in milk prices, production costs are still not covered and Europe's dairy farmers must compensate for the shortfall from their own pockets or are forced to shut down their farms.
 
The existing crisis instruments are not enough to create long-term stability in the European dairy sector. The reform of the Common Agricultural Policy is a chance to position the sector on a healthy foundation.
 
At a press conference in Berlin, the Executive Committee of the European Milk Board (EMB) – where all members are active dairy farmers – will present the EMB's proposal on the EU agricultural policy reform as well as solutions to dairy market crises.
