Ladies and Gentlemen,
 
We would like to invite you to a press conference and protest for a fair agricultural sector and decent income for farmers on 27 May, 10:00 onwards, in Brussels. This event under the slogan A fair income for farmers NOW! has been organised by the European Milk Board asbl on the occasion of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, and in the lead up to World Milk Day and the European elections. It is a call for specific solutions that will allow food production to move away from a loss-making activity for farmers and evolve into a fair and profitable sector. 
 
The mass exodus from the agricultural sector must be stopped, because it threatens food sovereignty and food security in the EU. Citizens will elect a new European Parliament in June, and these essential, strategic issues will definitely weigh in for many voters as they cast their ballot.

The EMB press conference will provide an overview of the current challenges in the agricultural sector and present our demands for a fair agricultural policy. Representatives of the EMB Executive Committee and the EMB member organisations will be there to answer your questions.

Farmers from different parts of Europe will be present with their Faironikas and Justines – cow statues in their national colours, in a strong show of support for fair income for farmers. It is an appeal to the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission as well as other agricultural associations to take decisive action to ensure these basic conditions in the agricultural sector.
