Dear press representatives,

When the EU milk market is flooded, we can do something about it. We have to ensure that less milk is produced. This can be achieved by voluntary production cuts, coordinated at EU level. However, the EU has not chosen this instrument. Instead, it is offering subsidies for private storage; processed products will be allowed to pile up, once again leading to stacks of butter and mountains of milk powder. 

In order to issue a strong appeal to the European Commission to reorient this misguided decision, dairy farmers of the EMB will organise milk campaigns on 7 May in different countries. We will jointly call for the EU-wide activation of a voluntary production reduction scheme. 
 
We invite you to come and witness these campaigns in person.

It will be an opportunity to capture some striking images and talk to the participating dairy farmers as well.

The organising associations will hold these campaigns with due regard to current restrictions.
