On the 27th of January, a public hearing took place in the European Parliament. All experts were of the opinion that the Milk package had failed in its attempt to bring real improvements in the market position of milk producers. Also the ‘soft landing’ measures were regarded as failed. MEPs, experts and farmers took the floor. Sieta van Keimpema – EMB Vice President – presented our Market Responsibility Programme as what it is: a crisis instrument to prevent the total collapse of farm gate prices, limit volatility, shorten crisis and make milk producers keep a permanent watch on market developments and react to market signals. There is still no definition of the term ‘crisis’.
