The immense and continuing pressure of the dairy farmers in the last two weeks shows pretty good impacts. Not only the milk price on the spot market has raised and a few dairy plants have increased prices. Also is there movement in the policy. „The EMB got the message from the office of Barroso that there will be an informell EU agricultural minister conference on the 5th of October“, says Thomas Schmidthaler from IG-Milch, Austria, who joined the extraordinary EMB conference in Brussels yesterday. There it was said: „We are closed to a breakthrough.“ Representives of the EMB are clearify the terms vor the ministerial meeting. In France (Normandy) there is a lack of milk to produce cheese.

France: Yesterday it was announced that Sarkozy has supported the system of supply management not only for milk but also for vegetable and fruits. Today: Futher acceptance are expacted by Le Maire. Furthermore the blockades of dairy plants are still ongoing. There will be in many regions demonstrations with tractors. In the Normandy is a lack of milk to produce cheese. In some regions, where the milk strike has not been that strong, the mobilisation is rising. Saturday: On Saturday the supermarket chain Leclerc will not sell milk in france.

Netherlands: On Friday there are actions planned concerning supermarkets. Further more on Friday dairy farmers are going to light straw as a symbol for the failed policy and they want to estinguish that with milk. Also they think about common actions with german collegues.

Belgium: Today they take part at the action day of european dairy farmers and blockade dairy plants and are demonstrating with tractors.

Germany: Yesterday in Rheinland-Pfalz dairy farmers demonstrated in front of the provincial ministry and they are still there! Today are several actions and at the big action in Munic have been 2000 dairy farmers.

Austria: Today there is a big press conference and several actions according to the european actionday. 100 tractors have been in Salzbourg in front of the ministry of agriculture and afterwards the farmers went down town and gave milk for free to the consumers – and blockaded by the way the traffic.

Italy: There was a big action in Rom in front of the Palazzo Montecitorio (parliament). And because of this action the agricultural minister Lucca Zaia made agreements to the dairy farmres. The farmers wants to distribute flyers and milk.

Luxembourg: Yesterday there has been a meeting with the minister of agriculture: He (and Juncker) want to push the EU for another milk policy. Today: Big demonstration in Luxembourg, Meeting with representive of Barroso and in the down town giving away the milk for free, press conference.

Switzerland: German Switzerland. Good presence in the media. Tonight there will be three meeting for farmers to discuss the further strategy. French Switzerland. Today demonstration with tractors. Tomorrow actions in front of a dairy plant. The motivation is still ongoing and rising. Canton-Governments  Waadt and Jura have passed resolutions by supporting the farmers protests and the proposal of the dairy farmers in the sence of the EMB proposals. Saturday: Demonstration in Geneva planned. Also several regional actions.
