Germany: 4 and 10 October: Days of action at dairies & retail outlets
On 4 October BDM (Association of German Dairy Farmers) dairy farmers visited some 30 dairy locations to hand in a resolution. The dairy farmers’ principal demand to the dairies is this: the dairies should pass on all extra revenue they can now generate owing to a better market situation in full immediately to the dairy farmers.
In a second measure, on 10 October the dairy farmers will visit retail outlets, which must likewise help improve the dairy farmers’ situation.
France: Protest action against sell-off of French milk to China
At the opening of the Chinese milk powder factory in Carhaix (Brittany) on 28 September, OPL dairy farmers demonstrated against the sell-off of quality French milk. The criticism levied by the French dairy farmers’ organisation OPL was that the value added was going abroad, and French milk producers were receiving no benefit.
