Dear media representative,
On Sunday, 30 August and Monday, 31 August, dairy farmers from the European Milk Board (EMB) and the German dairy farmers’ association (BDM) will come together alongside the informal Meeting of EU Agriculture Ministers in Koblenz to stage a number of different actions. They will show the Ministers what strategies are needed to make EU agriculture future-proof and crisis-resilient. Against the backdrop of the latest EU Sustainability Strategies, they will signal their willingness to cooperate with policy-makers, while at the same time, demanding a balanced consideration of social aspects.
Starting on Sunday, 30 August, we would like to invite you to a press breakfast aboard a boat in Koblenz. On this boat, we will be transporting Faironikas – fair dairy cows from different countries as a symbol of unity among EU farmers – to the Deutsches Eck, in order to turn the “German Corner” into a European Corner. After all, a sensible solution to the issues plaguing the agricultural sector can only be found at European level. The voyage will begin at 9h00; prior registration is required due to Coronavirus-related measures (register at: info[at]bdm-verband.de) and the vessel’s limited capacity. Onboard, you will have a chance to engage in in-depth discussions about the current context with German and European dairy farmers. The boat will return to port shortly before 12h00.

30 August – Press breakfast with BDM and EMB representatives from different countries
9h00: Meeting point – boat jetty no. 9, Höhe Weindorf (Gilles Boat Company)
Subsequent landing of European cows and “transformation” of the German Corner into the European Corner (arrival at boat jetty no. 2)
31 August – Demonstration und symbolic soup action
10h30: Procession of demonstrating European and German dairy farmers (Meeting point – Deutsches Eck, Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer, 56068 Koblenz)
11h00-13h00: Demonstration at the Rhein-Mosel Hall, where the working meetings will be held – including soup action (farmers will symbolically dole out the soup they have landed in due the corporation-friendly agricultural policy adopted by the EU Ministers)
14h00-16h30: Dairy farmers and the “Faironika” Fair Milk cows sail on the Mosel toward EU Agriculture Ministers (Point of departure – boat jetty no. 2, Gilles Boat Company). Please register in advance to participate in this event at: info[at]bdm-verband.de
In the presence of dairy-farmer delegations from Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and a number of German Länder. An interpreter will be present on-site.
