3 p.m. : The initiative of a delivery stop in France has strong influence on other European countries. Also in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg dairy farmers have stopped their milk distribution. In some regions in Germany they have stopped it almost completely. In Belgium there are several hundred farmers who are already participating in this milk delivery stop - more are expected to follow. In Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands there is also a strong movement going towards a milk delivery stop.
In France the delivery stop is continuing very strongly. Now there are 35.000 dairy farmers on strike. Yesterday already 30.000, that are 30 per cent of the French dairy farmers, had stopped their delivery. In some regions the participation went up to 60 per cent. In the Basque region there were even 80 per cent participating. In the rest of the country 25 to 60 per cent stopped their milk distribution. It is expected that many dairy farmers are starting today, so that the numbers will be even higher on monday.
