NGOs from Belgium and many African farmers’ organisations, affected by milk export,  mobilised in order to support the legitimate demands of dairy farmers in their milk strike. Defending fair and profitable prices was and still is a legitimate and justified demand.

By abolishing milk quotas, the European Union has decided to suppress its principal regulation instrument. Today the European Commission with its new Commissioner recognizes the need for a price regulation, but doesn’t know how to solve this homemade problem.

This is why the international solidarity organisations from Belgium and farmers’ organisations from Africa support the core demand of the dairy farmers: The regulation of the volume of production in order to adjust to the real demand.
